CAPELLA THURINGIA
At the heart of the collaboration between Cantus Thuringia & Capella are sacred and secular cantatas, masses, oratorios and sacred concertos. An additional focal point is the musical and scenic presentation of Baroque stage works. With the words of Johann Mattheson (1739) in mind, "that gestures, text and sound form a three-string braid bound together and should be in perfect agreement with one another," Cantus Thuringia & Capella strive for a unified concept in their preparation of stage works with the cooperation of specialists in Baroque theatre and gesture.
Capella Thuringia, playing on period instruments, is tightly knit with the vocal ensemble Cantus Thuringia; the Capella is also dedicated, however, to the instrumental music of the epoch. Their repertoire consists mainly of chamber music and concertos, as well as music ranging from solo pieces to larger formations.
