Bernhard Klapprott

 

Bernhard Klapprott studied harpsichord with Hugo Ruf and Bob van Asperen, organ with Michael Schneider and Ewald Kooiman, and also studied church music. He graduated from his studies in Cologne and Amsterdam with a degree in harpsichord performance ?summa cum laude? and with a degree in church music. In 1991 he was awarded 1st Prize at the 10th International Organ Competition at the Festival van Vlaanderen in Bruges. Since 1994 he has been Professor of Harpsichord/Early Keyboard Instruments at The Liszt School of Music Weimar; formerly, he taught at the Colleges of Music in Detmold, Herford and Bremen. He has also received prizes for his CD performances.  

 

His concert activities as a soloist, thorough-bass player and ensemble director as well as his experience as a church musician reflect a multifaceted interaction with the music of the 16  th to 18 th centuries and led to the founding of Cantus Thuringia & Capella.
